Comstock Knoll’s unique topography was created by glacial activity and flowing water. The knoll is ablaze in May and early June with the vibrant white, yellow, pink, and red blossoms of the Bowers’ Rhododendron Collection. Rhododendrons and azaleas are interspersed with small flowering trees, ferns, and perennials—including an extensive Hosta collection—all shaded by century-old white pine trees.

Comstock Knoll is named for John and Anna Comstock, both Cornell professors and the Bowers Rhododendron Collection honors rhododendron expert Clement Gray Bowers, all of whom influenced what Cornell University is today.

Located on Comstock Knoll, the Guy Nearing Summer House, is a great spot for to sit and enjoy the beautiful garden and to have picnics and meetings. This space is available to rent for events of up to 60 people.
