Overview

This program offers all students exposure to the varied aspects of public garden and natural areas management. Each student becomes a member of Cornell Botanic Gardens’ professional team, who are committed to offering mentorship, guidance, and appreciation for each intern’s contribution.

Internships are for Cornell graduate and undergraduate students only (including graduating seniors). All majors are welcome.

Natural Areas Research

This position provides experience in applied natural resource research and monitoring studies.

Natural Areas Stewardship

This position provides experience in preserving stewardship and management activities.

Wildflower Garden

This position provides experience in a broad range of native plant propagation and gardening skills.

Botanic Garden

These positions provide a range of fundamental horticultural skills including garden care and plant identification.

Botanic Collections: Annual Plants Trials

This internship is designed to give the student experience conducting garden performance trials of annual plants in evaluation gardens in the cultivated collections.

Marketing and Communications

This position provides experience implementing our marketing and communication efforts, with a focus on students.

Education Intern

Learn how to plan and deliver educational programs for Cornell Botanic Gardens.

At-a-glance

All positions are paid $11.50 per hour and typically work a 39-hour work week (Monday - Friday) throughout the summer.

In addition to every-day job responsibilities, all internships includes “Learning Mondays,” group work days, and are required to capture their summer experience to share on the last day.
