“Having been an undergraduate during the first decade of the establishment of the F.R. Newman Arboretum, when to the untrained eye it seemed a collection of unruly, adolescent trees, I find the transformation to what is now a beautiful, lush, cohesive landscape truly inspiring. The arboretum a living monument to the foresight of its creators. I am honored to support Cornell Botanic Gardens as it solidifies its mission in the 21st century to continue to connect plants and people.”

About

I am a landscape architect and principal of Nolan Landscape Architects, PLLC, a Westchester County, New York-based firm providing planning and site-design services to private and municipal clients. I leverage my experience and relationships developed during my tenure with the Westchester County Planning Department to further the goals of the Bronx River Parkway Reservation Conservancy, a member-based volunteer parks advocacy group concerned with the preservation and ecological enhancement of this eponymous property, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. I organize volunteer invasive species management and native planting events on the Bronx River Parkway, and have developed institutional partnerships with the New York Botanic Garden and Iona College for the study and control of emerging invasive species.
