Research

Cornell Botanic Gardens Natural Areas provide tremendous opportunities for short-term and long-term research across a diverse set of high-quality natural communities and rare species habitats.  These sites are owned and managed to provide essential educational and research opportunities for faculty and students alike. 

To minimize the potential overlap of exclusive studies, to evaluate the impact of the proposed research on natural resources, and to reduce the potential impact of natural area stewardship work on research projects, leaders of perspective research projects must complete the on-line application for a special-use permit.  This application will summarize the proposed objectives, logistical needs, methodology, clean-up, and exit strategy for the research project.
