Research Project:

Katie's research project focuses on studying the most effective avenues by which public gardens reach the public on native plants. By doing so she hopes to increase the public's awareness of, understanding of, and connection to native plants

Originally hailing from northeast Tennessee, Katie moved to Birmingham, Alabama, where she earned a B.S. degree in Biology at Samford University. A study abroad trip to Belize and coursework in botany revealed to her her passions for plant life. Katie has interned at the Birmingham Botanical Garden, where she developed her love for people and public gardens and at the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens in Wyoming. Katie enjoys the outdoors, running, cooking, and Alabama football.
