From gardens to gorges, everything that we offer at Plantations is made possible by support from our members and other donors. Plantations is a unit of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS), but only 10–12% of our annual operating budget comes from CALS and university appropriations. Endowment income and annual gifts from alumni and friends provide 80% of our budget, while grants and earned income make up the balance.
You can support Plantations with an annual membership gift, an outright donation, or a planned gift in your financial or estate plan. We welcome gifts at all levels. You can give cash or securities, stock or mutual fund shares, or bonds. And, you may be able to double or triple your gift if you or your spouse work for a company that matches donations to non-profit organizations. Gifts to Plantations are tax deductible to the full extent of the Internal Revenue Code.
Endowing key professional staff positions and fellowships for graduate students in our unique Public Garden Leadership program, and increasing unrestricted support through to the Plantations Annual Fund are our primary goals in the Cornell Now 2015 Campaign.
Cornell Plantations is launching a major initiative to build new Peony and Perennial gardens in front of the Nevin Welcome Center and a new East Asian Garden on Comstock Knoll. Gift opportunities to fund and name individual gardens range from $200,000 to $850,000.
