Plant Medicine and Myths of the Ancient Western World
Opening Reception: Friday, May 10; 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Join us for the opening of a new exhibition in the Nevin Welcome Center, prepared by Pamela Shade, curator of the Robison York State Herb Garden. On display are a series of prints of ancient deities from Egyptian and Greek mythology who were thought to have healing powers. Ms. Shade will give a short presentation about these deities and the medicinal plants which still bear the names of ancient gods and goddesses. Several of these plants were used by the earliest physicians and were the precursors to important modern pharmaceuticals. Light refreshments will be served.
