Outdoor Photography Series: Using Your Digital SLR Camera

Did you get a new digital camera this holiday season, but don’t really know what to do with it? Understanding your camera, and how to control it, is the first step in being able to create great art and have repeatable results. Come spend two hours at the Cornell Plantations with local photographer Chris Kitchen, learning how to take your digital camera beyond “auto mode” to capture the beauty of nature in winter. 

This class will focus on digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) cameras, which offer more features and artistic options for the amateur photography buff. The class will begin at the Brian C. Nevin Welcome Center with an indoor discussion and demonstration. Then we will move outside and begin our exploration of the nearby gardens and grounds for some hands-on macro and landscape photography.

Pre-registration is required. Participants should dress for the weather and bring their own DSLR camera. (Owners of standard "point and shoot" cameras should register for the class "Using Your Digital Point-and-Shoot Camera" on January 21.)
